Magento Concurrency and Content Versioning

Overview

Magento Concurrency and Content Versioning is an extension that provides two (2) important features missing in Magento

1. a) It automatically creates a data version of your product upon save and allows for restoring product data to earlier point in time.
2. b) It detects and fights concurrent product editing to prevent data loss

Scope

The current version works for Products only.

Content Versioning

This is the first of it's kind extension that attempts to provide automatic content versioning for product data. It automatically saves a version of your product details such as name, description, pricing, inventory options etc. each time a product is saved.

If a problem is detected, admin can easily restore product data to earlier point in time and reduce errors to minimum

It CAN restore

The extension will restore general product data such as name, description, SKU, prices, custom attributes, meta information etc.

It CANNOT restore

The extension will not restore product images and custom options, up-sells and cross-sells (if missing or deleted)

Concurrency

If you have a large store it's not uncommon to have several people working on it, updating product etc. In rare cases 2 or more people may end up working on the same product at the same time which will result in data loss eventually as Magento will keep the data saved last.

Magento Concurrency and Content Versioning is designed to detect and prevent these cases. It utilizes Pessimistic offline lock design pattern which detects if a product is being edited currenty and will not allow anyone else to save data until the current user is done editing.
