Magento 2 Live Quote

Overview

One of the significant drawbacks of online merchandise is that it doesn't allow customer to haggle for price. While not every merchant would like to sell at lower price, every merchant would like to increase the chances of converting potential visitors to customers.

Magento 2 live quote is a powerful quotation module that allows customers to request/negotiate product price in real time. They can use a simple form to create a quote request.

Quote requests are managed in Magento 2 administration panel, where sales representative may decide to either accept or refuse the quote. If accepted, the customer will see this directly on product page. Alongside with that, they will get a personal coupon code to use at cart/checkout and get the agreed discount.

How it works

The module simple but effective user interface. At product page the customers are presented a form to create a quote request. The form allows customer to create a new quote and let the merchant know at what price they are willing to purchase. Once requested, the system displays a confirmation message to customer that quote has been created. From then on the module will start checking for quote status change every once in a while. Customer can decide to either stay on page or browse other products till merchant processes the quote request.

If quote is accepted or refused, customer will recieve a notification on screen. The browser will update automatically if customer stays on detail page OR will render the accepted/refused message the next time customer visits the particular product page (see Fig. 1)

On other hand, merchant can see a list of all quote requests in administration panel. He can decide to either accept or refuse the quote. If accepted, the system will create a one time coupon for the customer to use at cart.

Security

Each quote request is specific to particular browser/session. It cannot be shared to 3rd party, it will not work on another PC, browser or network. This ensures that the quote you accept is used only by the correct customer that requested it.

Coupon codes generated can be used only once.

Online and offline modes

The module can work in real time but it also supports a so called "offline" mode. In this mode, the visitor can opt-in to receieve the quote status over email. This allows him to continue browsing the site and once quote is accepted by the merchant, visitor will receieve instructions over email how to use the agreed discount/pricing.
