This extension allows Magento store admin to quickly sort products in categories via drag and drop enabled interface. It dramatically improves product management by allowing you to set products order of appearance quickly with your mouse only.
Once installed, it allows for adjusting products order of appearance by simply using your mouse and dragging product rows. It's designed to solve the cumbersome process of inserting product sort position manually.
Overview
Magento administration panel is powerful and easy to work with but it lacks a few essential tools which can make store owner's live a lot easier.
This extension allows you to quickly set products order of appearance via drag and drop interface. You will no longer have to insert positions manually or bother if position index already exists. The extension does this automatically for you.

After trying to achieve this functionality for days fighting with Prototype I finally found this little extension by Anowave. Works as expected and it's a must have addition to stores with many categories. Other similar extensions providing the same functionality are at least 10x times more expensive which is awesome.

User Guide & Documentation
Installation
This extension can be installed in a few minutes, by going through the following steps:
- Download/purchase the extension
- Unzip the file in a temporary directory
- Copy folder and paste it in your Magento installation root directory. This extension will NOT replace existing code.
- Go to your admin panel and clear cache.
- Go to System -> Configuration -> Anowave Extensions
- Click "Drag and Drop Sorting"
- Enter your license key
- Save configuration
Enabling drag & drop
The extension is enabled by default, however to sort category products by drag and drop you need to change the number of visible products in the grid. You'll notice a new option "All" under "View" dropdown in the category products grid. You need to set view to "All" to activate product sorting by drag and drop.
If a limit is set sorting will not be possible.
How to use the extension
To sort your products by simply using your mouse, follow these steps:
- 1. Go to Catalog -> Manage categories
- 2. Select category
- 3. Go to Category Products
- 4. Set "View items" dropdown to "All"
- 5. Click the move icon and move the row up or down by holding the left mouse button down
- 6. Relase the mouse button
- 7. Save category
- 8. On a few occasions, the default frontend sorting could be different. Remember to set it to "Position"
Known Limitations
This extension is not suitable for sorting products in categories containing more than 500 products due to performance implications on browser level.
